Welcome to Our Crew

Alaska Northern Outfitters is a small, highly experienced crew dedicated to exceptional on-the-water experiences. Coast Guard-licensed skippers Sean Carlin and David Fox set high standards for safety, service, and guest experience, backed by decades of combined experience on Seward’s waters. Our job is to serve you, and we take that seriously. We consistently receive outstanding guest ratings and aim to deliver experiences you’ll remember long after you return home. We’re not satisfied unless you’ve had an extraordinarily great day on the water.

Captain Sean Carlin has been fishing in Alaskan waters since the age of 18, starting his journey as a deckhand with Alaska Northern Outfitters. Quickly discovering his passion for targeting and landing fish of various species, he now stands as a captain and co-owner of the same outfit, dedicated to providing unforgettable fishing experiences for all his clients. What sets Capt. Sean apart from his peers is his exceptional patience, skill, and ability to adapt fishing methods to the ever-changing conditions of deep-sea fishing. His love for the sport, coupled with a competitive spirit, drives him to employ techniques aimed at targeting large halibut whenever possible. Notably, his loyal clientele are Alaskan locals, as well as repeat visitors from out of state who return year after year for his consistently outstanding fishing charters. When he’s not fishing, he’s spending time with his wife and son.

Onboard Comforts That Matter Stay comfortable no matter the weather with a spacious heated indoor cabin, full restroom, and indoor seating for everyone. When you want fresh air, head to the upper deck viewing area to take in Alaska’s incredible vistas and wildlife.

Safety You Can Rely On As a Coast Guard–inspected vessel, the Sea Quest is equipped with advanced safety features, including a life raft ready to deploy in the event of an emergency. We also maintain 24/7 access to medical consultation through Alaska Maritime Physicians, ensuring expert support is always within reach.

A Better Way to Fish With wide deck space, designated rod holders, and an experienced crew working continuously to assist clients, everyone has room to fish comfortably. More lines in the water also means more scent activity below—helping improve fishing opportunities throughout the day.
